Literacy Nights in November

Following conferences, we will be hosting a Literacy Night at Sageville for PreK-5th graders. To help socially distance, we will be splitting it into two nights. Grades 3-5 will be on November 4 and PreK-2 on November 8. Both nights are 5:00-6:30 pm. Each night will have 3 stations with multiple teachers running the same station but in separate rooms: we will have a Read Aloud, Literacy Games, and a Make-and-Take station. Students that visit each will get a Sageville Storm bookmark and a drawing for a BAM gift card! Hope to see YOU there!! :)

“The Girl Who Fell Into Her Desk” Watch it HERE!

“In a messy desk, there are stories waiting to be told!”

A school year with so many challenges that we had to drastically rethink how we could make a fifth grade movie…but thanks to our art teacher Kalyn Ertz Nadermann and our team of talented fifth graders, here it is! “The Girl Who Fell Into Her Desk” is a stop-motion animated movie…and we hope you enjoy it. The movie is 1 hour and there are almost 2 hours of “behind the scenes” videos!

Grade 5 Farewell June 3rd at 6 pm – Families may attend

Dear Sageville 5th Grade Families,
Due to many families wishing to attend, we are moving the Sageville Fifth Grade Farewell to the evening. District policy states families can attend events after school hours. We are happy to announce this year’s Fifth Grade Farewell Ceremony will be held Thursday, June 3rd at 6:00 p.m. in the Sageville Gym. All families are invited to attend and masks are optional. We’re asking to limit attendance to the fifth grader and two adults only to help ensure social distancing. We do ask you to try and socially distance your families. The ceremony will include: special awards, parent recognitions, and a farewell video. We hope to see you there to celebrate our fifth-grade class. We will also live stream the event if families are unable to attend.

“The Girl Who Fell Into Her Desk” TRAILER is here!

It’s a Sageville first- a claymation animated movie. Our fifth graders and Mrs.Nadermann
have done a spectacular job and here it your first look at this special project! Hope you like it!

Student devices to remain at school starting Friday, April 30th

Dear Sageville Families,

Beginning this Friday, April 30th, ALL student devices (iPads and laptops) will now remain at school and will not travel back and forth from school to home. This change has been recommended by the school district in anticipation of MAP testing (for Grades 2-5 ) in May. There are other factors including ensuring devices do not get damaged any further as we head into the final weeks of the school year. Also, considering students are no longer in the hybrid schedule, this was a change that the district felt was needed. All schools will also begin the process of checking these devices back in for the summer within the next month.  The district is not planning on a 1:1 model next school year and instead there will be devices that will remain in the classroom for student use. Thank you for your cooperation.

$11,000 in new books for the Sageville library!

We would like to thank the Dubuque Racing Association for their DRA grant of $2,300 for our school library! We also would like to thank a special generous individual who donated $2,700 for books. Finally, a big shout out to our amazing Sageville PTC who donated $6,000 to the library! With that combined $11,000 (!!!) we will have lots of brand new books on the shelves when students return to the library! (We have placed 2 orders for books already, and have one more big order to submit. All new books should be on the shelves by the end of this school year)
