Student devices to remain at school starting Friday, April 30th

Dear Sageville Families,

Beginning this Friday, April 30th, ALL student devices (iPads and laptops) will now remain at school and will not travel back and forth from school to home. This change has been recommended by the school district in anticipation of MAP testing (for Grades 2-5 ) in May. There are other factors including ensuring devices do not get damaged any further as we head into the final weeks of the school year. Also, considering students are no longer in the hybrid schedule, this was a change that the district felt was needed. All schools will also begin the process of checking these devices back in for the summer within the next month.  The district is not planning on a 1:1 model next school year and instead there will be devices that will remain in the classroom for student use. Thank you for your cooperation.

Dubuque-Area K-12 Virtual Art Exhibition

We are pleased to present the 2021 Dubuque-Area K-12 Virtual Art Exhibition, a way to highlight student work in a year that makes in unable to do so in person.

The exhibit features the ability to virtually walk through a curated gallery of work — and we hope you’ll enjoy immersing yourself in the exhibit as the vision of these talented student artists comes to life.

$11,000 in new books for the Sageville library!

We would like to thank the Dubuque Racing Association for their DRA grant of $2,300 for our school library! We also would like to thank a special generous individual who donated $2,700 for books. Finally, a big shout out to our amazing Sageville PTC who donated $6,000 to the library! With that combined $11,000 (!!!) we will have lots of brand new books on the shelves when students return to the library! (We have placed 2 orders for books already, and have one more big order to submit. All new books should be on the shelves by the end of this school year)

5th Grade Movie Premiere Details (June 1st 6:00 pm Roosevelt Middle School)

Dear Sageville 5th Grade Families,
We are excited to announce that our 5th grade movie THE GIRL WHO FELL INTO HER DESK (a claymation animated movie!) will premiere on June 1st at 6:00 pm at Roosevelt Middle School in the auditorium. Due to Covid-19, this event will be strictly limited to only fifth graders and their families. Students will be receiving wrist bands shortly before the event (number is still undetermined but will likely be 4) and only people with those wrist bands will be admitted, as per school regulations. We would ask people sit a safe distance apart from others. The event will run approx 6:00-7:30 p.m. Later in the week, we will show the movie for other grade level students to watch. Finally, you will be able to find the entire movie online (plus other special behind the scenes videos). If you have any questions, please contact me at jdyer@dbqschools.org
Thank you and we are looking forward to this event to cap off a most exciting and unique school year!
